frequency of shiatsu treatments
hello everyone
One question I am often asked and which has caused some discussion lately is about the frequency of shiatsu treatments. I always tell owners that I cannot work miracles! Sometimes good results are seen just after one treatment but many horses find their first treatment a little strange and benefit more from following ones. Some horses find it really hard to relax - you can see their eyes closing and feel everything softening and they they suddenly catch themselves and are tense again, These horses often benefit more from further treatments as they have becomes used to what may be strange sensations to them and also to me working on them. I would not generally do more than one treatment in about 10 days but Pamela Hannay in her book mentions weekly or even daily sessions in some cases. I have found that often the horse needs time to process the treatment and results may be seen quite a while later. As I feel that more than one session is generally beneficial I always offer a discount for follow ups. Sometimes deeper issues emerge as you work and these may take some time to help. usually a few sessions can really help a problem if shiatsu is the answer with possibly top ups at intervals.
